Description
Wild Nettle Leaf Tea from Ghorma Village, Lahaul Valley, Himachal Pradesh
Beyond the Rohtang and Atal Tunnel, where the Chandra and Bhaga rivers meet beneath snow-clad peaks, nettle grows wild along field edges and stone walls of Lahauli villages. For generations, Lahauli women have gathered its tender leaves in the short mountain summer, dried them in the thin, clean air, and stored them away for the long, cold winters. Our Lahauli Nettle Leaf Tea (known across North India as bichhu buti) carries that same high-altitude tradition to your cup.
We source this tea directly from individual women farmers of Ghorma village in Lahaul, with no middlemen in between. The leaves are hand-picked, sun-dried, and packed without additives, colours, or preservatives: just 100% pure nettle leaf, naturally caffeine-free.
Benefits of Nettle Leaf Tea
- Naturally nutrient-rich: Nettle leaves are a traditional source of iron, calcium, magnesium, and vitamins A, C, and K.
- Traditional seasonal support: Long used in Himalayan and European folk traditions during changing seasons.
- Gentle cleansing: Traditionally taken as a mild herbal tonic that may support healthy fluid balance and digestion.
- Joint and body comfort: Nettle has a long history of folk use for everyday joint and muscle comfort.
- Caffeine-free wellness: A calming, earthy herbal tea you can enjoy any time of day, including before bed.
- Healthy hair and skin: Its natural minerals make nettle a traditional favourite for hair and skin nourishment from within.
How to Make Nettle Leaf Tea
- Bring 200–250 ml of fresh water to a boil, then let it rest for about 30 seconds.
- Add 1–2 teaspoons (approx. 1–2 g) of Lahauli nettle leaves to a cup or teapot.
- Pour the hot water over the leaves, cover, and steep for 5–7 minutes. Steep longer for a stronger, deeper infusion.
- Strain and enjoy plain, or add a little Himalayan honey and a squeeze of lemon.
Tip: For a refreshing summer drink, let the tea cool and serve over ice with mint. In winter, simmer with a slice of ginger for a warming mountain brew.
