Born and brought up in the remote district of Lahaul, Mandasi ji's journey reflects resilience, skill, and quiet strength.

A knitter, farmer, homemaker, and entrepreneur, she wears many roles with ease. Deeply rooted in her land, she works with seabuckthorn, prepares her own wool, and hand-knits the region's renowned GI-tagged Lahauli socks.

Beyond her craft, she is committed to uplifting others—training women, especially from tribal communities across Lahaul and Spiti, and creating opportunities where few existed before.

Warm, witty, and wise, Mandasi ji carries a quiet depth—you only truly understand her strength when you sit down and talk to her. Today, she stands as one of the most respected and inspiring female voices in Lahaul-Spiti.

A master weaver, she leads her own handloom unit, employing and empowering dozens of local artisans. Together, they create authentic Kinnauri handloom shawls, stoles, and mufflers, preserving intricate patterns and age-old weaving techniques unique to the region.

Each piece reflects the heritage of Kinnaur, crafted with precision, patience, and deep cultural understanding. Through her work, Mani Aunty continues to sustain traditional handloom practices while supporting local livelihoods.
