Una

Una district is located in the western part of Himachal Pradesh and is often referred to as the “Gateway to Himachal.” It is bordered by the state of Punjab and the districts of Kangra, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur. The district is flanked by the Shivalik Hills on the western side and the Solah Singhi range on the eastern side.

The terrain of Una is largely plain with low-lying hills and is traversed by the Swan River, a seasonal watercourse. The district experiences relatively high temperatures during summer, often reaching up to 45°C, while winters remain moderate. Owing to its geographical location and connectivity, Una has emerged as an important industrial region. A major Bulk Drug Park is also being developed in the district to promote domestic production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and reduce dependence on imports.

The economy of Una district is primarily agrarian, with a growing industrial base contributing to its rapid economic diversification.
